GoodyBeads.com is excited to sponsor the Twin Cities Bead Bazaar, which features an array of Jewelry Artists, Bead Vendors, Jewelry Making Classes and Product Demonstrations. Classes are three hours long, unless noted. Payment for classes is due at the time of registration and includes Kit Fee (price varies) and Class Fee of $40 (3-Hour Class) or $80 (6-Hour Class). *Kit fees do not include items in the “Supplies to Bring” description. Teachers will provide information on whether or not they will have additional kits available to purchase. These additional kit payments will be made directly to your class teacher after or during class hours.

Stamping is a great way to personalize your work with a minimal amount of tools, but like all other skills, it is harder than it looks! Come learn all the tricks to stamp a phrase onto a metal sheet, which can then be used as an embellishment to your other work. (Please note, we will not be finishing an entire piece of jewelry, this class focuses on stamping only and you will finish the work on your own time.)

Explore basic metal clay techniques as you create curved fine-silver bracelet components. Add a touch of color and embellish them with jewels. Students will make 2-3 pieces in class. Learn the basics of metal clay including imprinting, how to add a curve to pieces, setting stones, drilling connector holes, and finishing techniques.

Learn the basics of torch enameling with Sara Lukkonen, the owner-artist of C-Koop Beads. Using a Hot Head Torch™, learn safely to add colorful enamel powders to copper. Make as many beads, pendants and headpins as class time allows.

Topper additions to take a stone, shell, or crystal and transform into a pendant. This is a great place to be creative. Anyone wanting to learn more about the uses of epoxy clays and incorporating them in your work, class will use Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Each student will leave with their own stones made to pendants and a head loaded with new ideas.
Supplies to Bring*: A small bag of trinkets/finding/crystals to incorporate into your own piece, 2 stones or larger crystals, or shells (1" is a good size or larger as you like. Instructor will have some stuff available for added creativity.

Learn to use linking to make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, pendants and more- no previous experience necessary! The advantage of taking this class (if you’ve never worked with wire, that is!) is getting a feel of how to form wire and how to use the tools to your best advantage. And make cool things. Create beautiful organic textures and molds using natural elements such as branches and twigs to make one-of-a-kind charms, pendants, and other jewelry components, Then add a touch of color and sparkle by setting a stone to enhance your creation. Students will make 3-5 pieces in class. Learn mold making, how to shape pieces using the molds, and metal clay finishing techniques. Students will also explore drilling connector holes and stone setting techniques.

Fusing is a process of connecting metal using heat but no solder. While it is not exactly *easy* to do, the process is simple and requires very little in the way of time or tools. It is the perfect way to start adding your own metalwork into your beaded creations. We will focus on fusing rings of various sizes that will be useful in earrings, necklaces, bracelets and more. Finished pieces will be ready for you to incorporate into your own work.

Candie Cooper is a jewelry designer with a passion for combining unique materials and color combinations, inspired by extensive travel and her years living in China. Candie is the author of Necklace-ology (Lark Books 2012), Metalworking 101 for Beaders (Lark Books 2009), Felted Jewelry (Lark Books 2007), and Designer Needle Felting (Lark Books 2007). Candie has appeared on Beads, Baubles and Jewels and hosts daily Facebook live shows focusing on living a creative lifestyle. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and Fine Arts from Purdue University.
